Give yourself a makeover from the comfort of your home

Whether you’re trying to grab your partner’s attention, experiment with a new look or give yourself a confidence boost, a makeover is a great idea.

The good news is that you don’t have to break the bank to change your style.

In fact, you don’t even have to step outside of your front door, as we’ve pulled together some tips on giving yourself a makeover at home.

Work on your smile

Your smile is your best accessory, so start off your makeover by giving it some attention.

No, we’re not saying that you need to head to Harley Street; all you need is some baking soda and water to create an at-home teeth-whitening solution that’s sure to brighten your look. In fact, this hack can save you hundreds of pounds and help you achieve a celebrity smile in no time at all, and it’s much less abrasive than those whitening strips and pastes.

If you’ve got an event or special occasion planned, go easy on the whiskey and red wine, which are known to leave their mark on your teeth, and make sure you’re getting enough calcium from vitamins and dairy products. We recommend swapping out coffees, juices, and soft drinks for water. In just a few weeks, there’ll be a noticeable difference in tooth colour!

Try our anti-ageing device

It would be impossible to turn back the clock overnight, but if you’re trying to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet, there is an at-home solution that you can try instead of going under the knife. Oralift is a facial rejuvenation device that is worn for short periods of time that retrains your facial muscles and counteracts the effects of ageing.

It offers exciting long-term results and can easily be included in your beauty regime, so do check it out and get in touch if you have any questions. We’re always around to help you!

Hydrate your skin

As well as sipping your water bottle throughout the day, opt for a rich moisturiser that will boost hydration. The best rehydration creams all have one thing in common: they contain hyaluronic acid and vitamins E and K, which trap your skin’s natural moisture in place without causing greasy and oily skin. Experiment until you find one that works for you.

Whilst we’re on the subject of hydration, a quick word on your hair. Treat yourself to a hair mask that deeply conditions your locks. The best ones contain fatty acids and humectants such as soy protein, which will attract and retain your hair’s moisture. And if you can’t find a mask at the supermarket, make your own with a banana and a teaspoon of almond oil. Mix them, massage into your scalp and leave for thirty minutes; the results are impressive!

Try a new hairstyle

You don’t have to sit in a salon chair for hours on end to change your hairstyle. So long as you’ve got a pair of curling tongs and some hair straighteners, you can have hours of fun spending time experimenting with new styles to see what works for you. Try the beach-girl look, curling your hair in segments, leaving the bottom straight, to add texture. Braiding wet hair before going to bed is another option; you’ll wake up with effortlessly tousled tresses.

Hair dye can also play its part. According to L’Oreal Professional, the colour of your skin tone will determine your perfect hair colour. The right colour should compliment your skin, and intensify your eye colour. If you have blue eyes, for example, then opt for caramel or golden blonde hair dye; if you have green eyes, consider a fiery red or burnt orange hair colour.

Dig deep in your wardrobe

When did you last take a good look through your wardrobe? The average woman has an eye-watering £2,400 of unworn clothing in her closet, so dig deep and see what you can find.

Perhaps you bought a dress impulsively but have never had the courage to wear it outside? Maybe you’ve got some old blouses and skirts in block colours that complement one another nicely? Put on an impromptu fashion show in front of your mirror and you’re bound to find a couple of new looks that will give you a major confidence boost. The best part is, it’s free!

Mix up your lipstick

The chances are that you have a lipstick in every colour lying around your makeup drawer, so dig them out and spend an hour or so trying out new colours. You should wear the right shade for your skin tone and undertone. If you look good in yellows and reds, the chances are that you have a warm undertone. If you prefer wearing blues and pinks, you will likely have a cool undertone and should wear a blue-toned red rather than orange-tinged red.
