Challenges the concept of occlusal correction in dentistry:
Occlusal Restoration is also sometimes prescribed to correct the alignment of the teeth. Crooked teeth are replaced or reconstructed through occlusal restorative procedures such as Orthodontic (Braces) or Invisalign® to correct the position of the teeth and improve the normal functioning of the mouth.
However, Dr Mohindra found that Oralift helped to deprogramme the facial muscles and the 3 dimensional position of the jaw. His patients found that with these healthy facial muscles and by stopping tooth contact, many patients were able to eat with difficult bites and occlusal correction was not needed for these patients.

Vertical dimension of occlusion, or VDO, also known as occlusal vertical dimension (OVD), is a term used in dentistry to indicate the superior-inferior relationship of the maxilla and the mandible when the teeth are occluded in maximum intercuspation.
In rehabilitating an entire arch, however, the occlusal vertical dimension is often corrected to a more ideal, usually greater, opening. This correction means that a ceramic thickness exceeding the amount of tooth structure removed can be used.
Dr Mohindra found that when restoring vertical dimension of occlusion using Oralift, a 3 dimensional change takes place in the position of the jaw, hence the traditional instruments used were no longer suitable.
